IV contrast extravasation is a not uncommon complication in the performance IV contrast enhanced CT examinations.  In this accredited Expert Forum Webcast, we will review the different complications related to IV contrast administration.  This will be followed by analysis of different factors that contribute to IV contrast-extravasation and subsequent discussion of best practices that can reduce the incidence of IV contrast extravasation.  A novel method which reduced contrast extravasation by over 50% will also be presented.

### Welcome to the 2023 Understanding Interventions/NSF CREST Annual Conference
Welcome to our annual conference, a gathering where the knowledge of our scientific communities share what they have researched since we last met. If it is your first time attending, then thank you for stepping into our world! If you are a returning guest, then thank you for coming back! Whether you are attending for the first or the fourteenth, we treasure your trust in what we have to offer. We promise to make it worth your while.

As in years past, we have put together an energetic collection of seminars, deeper dives, speeches, posters, and workshops to whet your appetite for learning.

We are delighted that you have chosen to attend the 2023 Annual Understanding Interventions (UI) Conference, in partnership with the NSF Centers for Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST) Program.

### About the Conference
This conference was established to facilitate dissemination and exchange of hypothesis-based research on interventions and initiatives that broaden participation in science and engineering research careers. The conference is designed to create a dialogue among behavioral/social science and education researchers, evaluators, and faculty in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields who participate in intervention programs. Workshops, sessions, and posters will communicate effective strategies from successful STEM intervention programs, present results from empirical research studies, and synthesize the translation of research findings into practice on STEM learning, undergraduate research, graduate education, and student retention.

Thank you again, and welcome!

webinar

In this Expert Forum Webcast, Applied Radiology will speak with Dr. Amit Gupta and Dr. Elias Kikano; both from University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center about their utilization of Spectral CT in clinical practice, how it has increased their diagnostic confidence and what, if any effect it has had on their clinical workflow.

The Clinical & Economic Benefits of Spectral CT

Join Dr. Jan Fritz, board-certified and fellowship-trained musculoskeletal radiologist at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as he discusses new acceleration techniques in MSK MR Imaging.  He will dive deep into techniques, such as Compressed Sensing SPACE, Compressed Sensing SEMAC, CAIPIRINHA SPACE, Simultaneous Multi Slice and more.

Acceleration Techniques in MSK MRI: Improving Efficiency, Improving Patient Experience

In this Expert Forum Webcast, Michael V. Knopp, MD, PhD will provide an overview of current digital PET technologies and how leveraging these digital advances improves PET imaging using clinical cases. He will demonstrate how new concepts result in acceleration of acquisition time, dose reduction and dynamic imaging to help improve quality and the patient and staff experience. These new applications apply to the clinical practice for oncology, neurology and orthopedics / sports medicine.

Digital Technologies to Advance Clinical PET for Oncology and Beyond

Pitfalls and limitations of current practice will be reviewed, and a new prostate cancer diagnosis and management paradigm will be highlighted, focusing in particular on the importance of cooperation between the radiologist and urologist to provide the best patient care and management.  The webinar will also cover required capabilities on the MRI scanners, specific imaging sequences, CAD systems, contrast utilization, and the application of PI-Rads in clinical practice.

Current Practice and Advances of Multiparametric Prostate MRI with MRI/US Fusion Biopsy

Through case presenation, attendees will have an opportunity to appreciate the superior lesion detection that is capable with these scanners, as Dr. Nicolaou reviews various MSK presentations and pathologies that will include gout, septic arthritis, bone marrow edema as it pertains to acute fractures in large and small joints, bone marrow infiltration disorders, tendons and ligaments, and acute spinal injuries.

Making an Impact When it Matters the Most: MSK Imaging in the ED with Dual Energy Spectral CT

This CE accredited webinar provides insight into the adoption of Smart CT Solutions and features two expert faculty members who will share their experiences on how to increase workflow efficiency and quality improvement in the CT Suite. Further information shared will demonstrate the value of smart contrast delivery systems, by expanding upon the importance of capturing and analyzing patient-enriched data through case proven examples and the incorporation of AI solutions.

Smart CT Solutions: Delivering Efficiency & Quality Improvement

COVID-19 is affecting every aspect of healthcare today; from those on the frontlines in the ER to every specialist, who must still see and treat their patients.  This is no different for radiology and radiation oncology. In this special webinar dedicated to best practices in an age of COVID-19, two well respected physicians from busy community hospitals in the heart of America will share their insights and lessons learned over the last few weeks, as they've worked tirelessly with their colleagues to prepare their departments for this very real pandemic.

COVID-19 Radiology Response | A View from the Trenches

In this special webinar, we will hear from Dr. Bin Song, Director of Radiology, China West Hospital in Chengdu, China; who shares how they prepared for the pandemic and continue to provide imaging services in this new environment.

Emergency Operational Strategies in Radiology

Join us for an informative webinar on the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the fight against COVID-19. You'll hear from industry experts on what role these technologies play in this new era.

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in a COVID-19 Environment

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, radiology departments around the globe are working diligently to prepare and find solutions to safely image their patients while protecting their staff. In this special webinar features interviews with Dr. Judy Yee and Dr. Dushyant Sahani who both Chair their departments at busy institutions on opposite ends of the country; where they share their experiences in Seattle and New York.
