Wen-wai Yim is a Senior Applied Scientist at Microsoft Health. As part of the EmpowerMD team, she works on clinical note generation from ambient patient-clinician conversations.

Her interest lies in clinical natural language understanding from clinical notes and medical conversations; as well as clinical note language generation from structured and unstructured data. She particularly enjoys investigating semantic variations and reasoning across multiple sentences.

Wen-wai previously completed her PhD at the University of Washington Biomedical Informatics Department, studying clinical event extraction and cancer stage prediction from clinical and radiology notes. She has also spent time as a postdoc at Stanford University and the Veterans Affairs working with electronic medical record data. Before joining Microsoft, Wen-wai led AI efforts at a human scribing company called Augmedix.
