SHORT BIO
Dr Aurora Maccarone is from Palermo (Italy). She joined the Single-Photon Group at Heriot Watt University (Edinburgh, UK) as a doctoral student in 2012. Her research topic was to investigate single-photon techniques for three dimensional imaging in highly scattering environments. Following her doctoral studies, Aurora investigated novel single‑photon detector technology for several applications, including underwater imaging and quantum communication. Since October 2020, Aurora is a Research fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, hosted at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. During the Fellowship, Aurora will investigate state of the art single photon detector arrays for several underwater applications.
