SHORT BIO
Dr. Kathryn L. McGill completed her B.S. in Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara before attending Cornell University to earn her M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics under her advisor, Prof. Paul McEuen. Her dissertation covered novel electrical and mechanical properties of the two-dimensional materials graphene and molybdenum disulfide. During her time as a grad student, she hosted a physics-themed YouTube channel, The Physics Factor, which helped her discover her love of teaching and science communication. She is now a Lecturer in the Department of Physics at the University of Florida, where she also runs UF PhysTube, a collaboration of students, faculty, and staff to make educational and engaging videos about physics.
