SHORT BIO

Gleb Kakazei graduated from Radiophysics Department of Kiev National University in 1989 and obtained PhD in Physics from Institute of Metal Physics National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) in 1996. After this Dr. Kakazei joined Institute of Magnetism NASU as a Staff Scientist. In 1998-2001 worked at the Institute of Materials Physics of University of Porto (IFIMUP), Portugal as a Post-Doctoral Researcher. In 2001 he moved to Ohio State University, Columbus, USA as a visiting scholar. His stay was supported by US National Science Foundation and US Federal Aviation Administration. In 2004 returned to Institute of Magnetism NASU as Senior Research Scientist In 2005 obtained Doctor of Science degree (Habilitation) and was promoted to Leading Research Scientist. In 2006-2007 was on sabbatical leave at the Institute of Materials Sciences of Madrid (ICMM), Spain. In May 2008 was employed by IFIMUP, in frames of “Ciencia 2007” program as Staff Scientist. In the beginning of 2013 joined Information Storage Materials Laboratory at National University of Singapore as Senior Research Scientist. In the end of 2013 Dr. Gleb Kakazei won the highly prestigious "Investigator FCT" grant from Foundation of Science and Technology of Portugal and rejoined IFIMUP as Principal Scientist, in 2020 his position was converted into permanent. Author and co-author of 125 papers in Web of Science journals and 4 book chapters. Winner of Lev Shubnikov Prize from National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2013, awarded once in 3 years for the best series of publications in the area of experimental physics).
