SHORT BIO
Dr. Joseba Alonso has been recently awarded a tenured scientist position at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). He seeks fundamental understanding of quantum mechanical systems and develops scalable technologies exploiting the counterintuitive laws of quantum mechanics. After over a decade working in the field of quantum information in some of the most prestigious laboratories at the University of Mainz (Germany, with Prof. Günther Werth and Prof. Klaus Blaum) and ETH Zurich (Switzerland, with Prof. Jonathan Home), Joseba became the Principal Investigator of the MRILab (Magnetic Resonance Imaging group) in CSIC’s Institute for Instrumentation in Molecular Imaging (I3M, Valencia, Spain), where he builds unique scanners and techniques pushing the limits of MR Imaging. One of their strengths lies on the ability to advance the capabilities of current technologies by combining deep, abstract knowledge about fundamental scientific mechanisms with a good overview of existing, down-to-earth technical possibilities.
