SHORT BIO
Dr. Benjamin Michlin is a Data Scientist at the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific. His work focuses on applying advanced statistical and ML/AI techniques to datasets in multiple domains to create predictive models with actionable insights. He is the lead scientist for multiple projects and was the recipient of the 2020 Department of Defense Gears of Government Award, the 2020 Barchi Prize from the Military Operations Research Society (MORS), and the 2019 Department of the Navy A+ Award. Dr. Michlin received his B.S. in Physics and B.A. in Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He went on to complete his M.S. and Ph.D in Physics at Rice University where he focused on high energy experimental particle physics and worked on the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
