He is graduated as a teacher of Foreign Languages at the Palermo University and he is a User Interface Designer in Engineering Research and Development Laboratory. He has obtained a Master degree in Digital Publishing for Internet from a ICT Training school of Ferentino. He is head of the Border Security and Defence unit of IS3 (Industry and Security Technologies for Research and Innovation) Lab. His main research results are related to human and computer interaction and to the eXtensible Presentation Language. XPL is a multichannel and multimodal presentation language based on User Interface Design Patterns and in particular on visual and verbal design pattern paradigm. His main expertise and competences came out from several Italian Ministry and EC co-funded projects, such as VINCENTE (A Virtual collective INtelligenCe ENvironment to develop sustainable Technology Entrepreneurship ecosystems), MARISA (MARitime Integrated Surveillance Awareness), ALFA (Advanced Low Flying Aircrafts Detection and Tracking) and PYTHIA (Predictive methodologY for TecHnology Intelligence Analysis) projects and he has been coordinator of the SURVANT (SURveillance Video Archives iNvestigation assisTant) project. He is currently the coordinator of the SOLOMON (Strategy-Oriented anaLysis Of the Market fOrces in EU defeNce) and he is involved in the ANDROMEDA (An EnhaNceD Common InfoRmatiOn Sharing EnvironMent for BordEr CommanD, Control & CoordinAtion Systems) and EFFECTOR (An End to end Interoperability Framework For MaritimE Situational Awareness at StrategiC and TacTical OpeRations) projects.
