SHORT BIO
Professor Liuyan Zhao received her PhD degree from Columbia University in 2013 and BS degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2008. Prior to joining the University of Michigan in 2017, she was Richard Chase Tolman Prize fellow at the California Institute of Technology during 2013 – 2016. She has received professional honors/awards including Kavli Fellow by NAS, NSF CAREER award, AFOSR YIP award, and Bryan R. Coles Prize by SCES. Her research interest includes nonlinear and ultrafast spectroscopy studies of static orders and dynamic excitations in 2D and 3D correlated electron systems.
