SHORT BIO
Dr. Sujoy Roy is a staff scientist and X-ray Scattering Program Leader at the Advanced Light Source, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley Ca, USA.
Dr Roy received his undergraduate degree in Physics from India and MS and PhD from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. He did his postdoctoral training at UC San Diego. He joined SLAC as a Staff Scientist for a brief period before moving on to ALS. His research is in the topical area of magnetic phenomenon at materials surface/interface. He uses high brightness and intensity of synchrotron and XFEL to perform resonant X-ray magnetic scattering and photon correlation spectroscopy. These advanced characterization methods allow atomically probe bulk and interfacial electronic and magnetic structure in an element sensitive way that provide fundamental insight into the mechanism by which the magnetic interactions takes place that so-often give rise to exotic and new magnetic phases and materials.
