SHORT BIO
Yubo Xie is currently a PhD candidate in the Human-Computer Interaction Group at EPFL. Before EPFL, he earned his Master’s degree in computer science at UC San Diego, and his Bachelor's at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Yubo’s research is focused on natural language processing, with special interest in developing open-domain dialog systems that are more human-like. He has been active in the field of affective computing and its integration with chatbots to generate more empathetic responses. His recent work also involves verbal humor recognition using large-scale pre-trained language models.
