Prof. Mayr holds a diploma and PhD in Mechanical Engineering of Graz University of Technology in Austria. He started his academic career as Professor of Welding Engineering at TU Chemnitz. In 2019 he was appointed as Professor of Materials Engineering of Additive Manufacturing at TUM. He currently is also Department Head Materials Engineering in the TUM School of Engineering and Design and one of the coordinators of the mission network TUM.Additive. His research focuses on structure-process-property relationships.
