SHORT BIO
Alan is Professor of Machine Learning at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. His research spans topics such as neural language modeling, few-shot learning and entity extraction/linking. All research by his group is made available in the form of open source frameworks such as Flair (https://github.com/flairNLP/flair) or public demos such as OpinionGPT (https://opiniongpt.informatik.hu-berlin.de/), allowing anyone to use state-of-the-art NLP methods in their research or applications. Before joining the HU in 2020, he spent many years in industrial research labs, first at IBM Research in California, then at Zalando Research in Berlin.
