SHORT BIO

Akiko Aizawa received the B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo in 1985, 1987, and 1990, respectively. She was a visiting researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1990 to 1992. At present, she is a Vice Director General and Professor at the National Institute of Informatics, Japan. She is also a professor at the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo, and Graduate Institute for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI). Aizawa's research interests include natural language understanding, dialogue systems, text-based content and media processing, and information retrieval. Aizawa has served as an organizer and Program Committee member of related conferences and workshops, and also organized mathematical formula retrieval tasks at NTCIR-10, 11, 12. Now she is a research supervisor of the Strategic Basic Research Programs "Core technologies for trusted quality AI systems," funded by Japan Science and Technology Agency (2020-2027).
