SHORT BIO
Nada Lavrac is Senior Researcher at Department of Knowledge Technologies of Jozef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, Slovenia. She is Professor at Jozef Stefan International Postgraduate School in Ljubljana and at University of Nova Gorica, and was professor/lecturer at Klagenfurt University and Bristol University. She was the founder of the New Media and eScience MSc and PhD programs and is Head of Information and Communication Technologies MSc and PhD Programs at Jozef Stefan International Postgraduate School in Ljubljana. Her main research interests are in Knowledge Technologies, with particular research interests in machine learning, data mining, text mining, knowledge management and computational creativity. Areas of applied research include data mining applications in medicine, biology, health care and and media analysis. She is Ambassador of Science of Slovenia. She was Vice-President of ECCAI (European Coordination Committee for Artificial Intelligence) and is an elected ECCAI Fellow. She was founding member of the International Machine Learning Society board, and was member of the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine board.
