SHORT BIO
Hongtao Ding is an associate professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Iowa. His research interests include laser materials processing, nanostructuring for superhydrophobic/superwicking surfaces, metal additive manufacturing, and data-driven modeling of materials processing. He has published over 60 technical articles and holds four pending US patents. His research has been supported by NSF, Army, DOE, and industry sponsors. Dr. Ding received his degrees from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Michigan, and Purdue University. He is the recipient of the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award and serves on several technical committees.
