SHORT BIO

Shaurya Rohatgi is an accomplished computational scientist who brings his multifaceted expertise to leading AI projects. Currently at the University of Chicago's Research Computing Centre, Shaurya earned his Ph.D. from Penn State under advisor Dr. C. Lee Giles.

Shaurya's illustrious career demonstrates his passion for impactful research and mentorship. As part of Penn State's Intelligent Information Systems Lab, he made extensive contributions to the CiteSeerX repository, collaborating closely with Dr. Jian Wu. His thesis advanced math search capabilities through pioneering techniques.

At Allen AI, Shaurya received exceptional guidance from Sergey Feldman and Doug Downey while working on Semantic Scholar. He led the creation of S2QA, a first-of-its-kind generative QA system citing papers with GPT-4. Shaurya also gained valuable experience at Tata Innovation Labs under Dr. Puneet Agarwal.

Beyond research, Shaurya enjoys tennis, skiing, and continually learning. He aspires to develop AI that augments human intelligence for the betterment of society. Shaurya's academic excellence, leadership, and care for his field make him a role model in computer science.
