SHORT BIO

"Kayla Stephens received her B.S in Nutritional Sciences at Michigan State University with a track in pre-medicine. During her undergraduate career, she served as an Intercultural Aide where she helped students successfully transition socially, culturally and academically at the university. Additionally, Kayla studied abroad in Tanzania, Africa where she was able to conduct food and nutrition research. Shortly after graduating, Kayla joined Teach for America and moved to Atlanta, GA to teach high school science to under-resourced youth. After 3 years of teaching, she went back to school and received her master’s in public health with a concentration in Program Design and Evaluation at the George Washington University. Prior to joining AIP, she was a Community Education Specialist for the Alexandria Health Department, where she helped drive their community health assessment and collaborated with a broad range of community partners and stakeholders to implement public health programs to benefit youth in the City of Alexandria.

As the Program Manager for SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma, Kayla manages ongoing student outreach programs, develops education and professional content, oversees scholarship and award programs, develops SPS chapters, and oversees the summer intern program."
