My name is Aliyah Bailey. I am a second year student at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. This summer I worked in J. Christopher State’s lab in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology for 10 weeks. I was excited to get to work on subjects that I am very passionate about which are cancer and women’s health. These subjects are very near and dear to my heart because I had a grandmother who passed from colon cancer and a mother who is in remission for breast cancer. Being able to see the small difference I made during this short time has really excited me. I plan to pursue a gynecology or internal medicine residency program. This experience has opened my eyes to the wide range of roles I can hold as a physician in the future.
