SHORT BIO

Michelle Shin is 2nd year medical student at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. She attended Duke University for her undergraduate studies where she majored in Neuroscience. Her strong interest in anesthesia led her to the Vanderbilt Anesthesiology Summer Research Internship, where she worked with her PI and mentor, Dr. Joseph Schlesinger, on a project exploring the modification of ICU alarms to mitigate alarm fatigue in clinicians. This research project has been largely influential in meshing her various passions and clinical interests including cognitive and behavioral sciences, critical care medicine, and advocating for physician wellbeing. Outside of school and research, she loves to discover new music, go on walks at the beach, and play with her black lab, Cash!
