SHORT BIO

Heather Thiry, PhD, is a Senior Research Associate with the University of Colorado at Boulder with Ethnography & Evaluation Research. For nearly two decades, she has conducted educational research and program evaluation of postsecondary STEM education initiatives in formal and informal settings. Her research interests focus on diversity and equity in STEM for underrepresented groups, departmental change efforts, STEM transfer pathways, and underrepresented students’ navigation of institutions and career pathways. She serves as the external evaluator of the National Science Foundation-funded INCLUDES Alliance, Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (CAHSI), and as principal investigator (PI) of a National Science Foundation-funded research study of STEM transfer. She is a co-author of the recent book, Talking about Leaving Revisited, a national study of student attrition from STEM majors.
