SHORT BIO
adat Shahriar is a Computer Science PhD student and a research assistant at the University of Houston, Texas, USA. He received his MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University at Albany, SUNY. With a passion for innovation and research, Shahriar is deeply interested in tackling the challenges that come with them. His research focuses on battling undesirable content online using Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning techniques. Specifically, he aims to combat deceptive text such as fake news, phishing emails, and fake reviews. Additionally, Shahriar works towards bridging the gap between humans and computers by enabling computers to understand complex human behavior and emotions, expressed through physical signals and text. He brings expertise in social computing, signal processing, and data science to his work.
