Luciane Vieira de Mello is Professor of Bioscience Education in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool (UK). She has conducted pedagogical research leading to several publications. She acted as Associate Editor of the Education section of FEBS Open BIO (2017-2021), and was appointed Editor-in-chief for this Education section in 2022. She also acted as Associate Editor for the Developing Academic Practice Journal (2020-2022).

Prof. Mello is a Principal Fellow of the HEA, Fellow of the RSB, and a member of the Biochemical Society and FEBS. For the former she is the Chair of the Training Panel and a co-chair of the Education Committee. She holds a MA in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
