Dr. Richard Tzong-Han Tsai, a Research Fellow at the Center for GIS, Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, Academia Sinica, Taiwan, and a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Central University, Taiwan, is a distinguished figure in the realms of natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and digital humanities. His significant expertise is particularly evident in the development of large language models for under-resourced languages. As the leader of the TAIDE project's model training team, Dr. Tsai has played a pivotal role in advancing Taiwan's research in this area, especially through his work on mixed Taiwanese and Mandarin datasets, which was recognized at EMNLP 2022.
