SHORT BIO

I am an outpatient speech language pathologist at Salem Health. My background includes serving primarily adults across work settings including outpatient hospital, skilled nursing, home health, and university based programs. I have a PhD with an emphasis in head injury and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). I have had the honor of mentoring graduate students from all the Universities in Oregon as well as students from Idaho and California. My PhD was from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln and I have taught at Rockhurst University, Idaho State University both in person and as an adjunct distance education professor. I am a past adjunct with Portland State University. I have published articles about brain injury and AAC, co-authored book chapters and presented regionally, nationally and internationally. I am the current Council of Ambassador Speech Language Pathologist representative for Oregon and am an active participant with OSHA and the legislative sub-committee. I want to move our profession forward in serving our survivors of traumatic brain injury. This includes using the foundation of motivational interviewing in an inter-disciplinary model. Survivors of brain injury deserve respect and a shared collaborative decision making process to assist moving them forward with their functional daily needs. This helps our community in action.
