SHORT BIO

Lisa Anakwenze, is the Founder and CEO of MOOR OUT OF LIFE LLC, a founding member of the acclaimed GROW 502: A Health Disparities Series, and the pioneer of the award-winning Caged Bird: Bluelining and Medicine Series. Lisa earned her bachelor's degree in psychology at St. John's University. She then pursued a Master of Public Health with a focus in Global Health Leadership at the University of Southern California and a Masters of Physiology and Integrative Medicine at Georgetown University. She is a third-year medical student at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Lisa previously served as the president of the Kentucky Medical Association and American Medical Association Medical Student Section of Louisville, Co-President of the Integrative Medicine Interest Group, and the Student National Medical Association MAPS/LSAMP Liaison. She currently is a Student Representative on the University of Louisville School of Medicine Anti-Racism Task Force, a Health and Social Justice Scholar, Distinction Track in Business Leadership Scholar, Johnson and Johnson/NMF AIM Scholarship Recipient, Kaiser Permanente Oliver Goldsmith Scholarship Recipient, Kentucky Medical Association (KMA) Community Service Award Recipient and a recipient of the AAFP Emerging Leader Scholarship and Public Health/Policy Track Project award. Lisa along with her colleagues received the Social Justice and Inclusion Group Award from the University of Louisville for efforts to advance health equity through the American Medical Association (AMA)/KMA/Medical Student Section (MSS) Louisville. Ms. Anakwenze has engaged in several self-designed grants and projects to promote health equity in marginalized patient populations supported and funded by Centene/Health Net and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Lisa is a certified Transformational Nutrition Coach, certified ACSM Group Exercise Instructor, TIVITY health instructor, CDC DPP Lifestyle coach, an awarded humanitarian, and an artist. Through her experiences in wellness consulting, dance fitness, community health, global health, holistic health, research, education, social justice, African history, and music she aims to promote vitality and concepts of mind/body/soul health and wellness. She loves working in a field that is completely dedicated to uplifting people to their highest potential. Lisa feels that having the opportunity to play a role in reducing pain and suffering while empowering people to attain their health and wellness goals is rewarding, inspiring, and humbling.
