SHORT BIO
Kevin Perez is a first generation Mexican-American born of immigrant parents from a small town in Mexico called Tampico. He was born and raised in Chicago, having received a bachelor’s of science in Biochemistry from Loyola University Chicago and a master’s of science in Biotechnology from Rush University. Kevin eventually made his way to Los Angeles, where he was accepted into the Charles R. Drew/UCLA Medical Education program which focuses on educating future physicians in caring for underserved populations. Towards the end of his third year of medical school, Kevin took a leave of absence to take part in University of Texas Southwestern’s Research Fellowship Program. At UTSW, he worked under microsurgical breast reconstructive surgeons Drs. Nicholas Haddock and Sumeet Teotia where he published and presented on a number of projects in breast reconstruction outcomes. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys staying active by powerlifting and has competed in a number of competitions. Kevin hopes to one day utilize the knowledge and skills of reconstructive surgery to provide care for his underserved community back in Chicago.
