My name is Dina Shakran and I am a third year osteopathic medical student at CHSU-COM located in the Central Valley, California. Since starting my medical school journey in the height of the COVID pandemic, my interest in the vast world of infectious disease has sparked and has given me a new passion to focus on. The COVID pandemic presented us with uncertainty in terms of what was to come and it seemed like there were new changes happening everyday. When the opportunity arose to study COVID and how it was affecting different populations, I jumped at the chance to be able to learn more about the virus that had changed our lives in a span of a few years.
