SHORT BIO

David "Jay" Wilson is a fourth-year medical student at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Prior to his current position, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree (Pre-Medicine) in 2019 from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. During undergraduate, he worked as an emergency department scribe, standardized patient for USC School of Medicine—Greenville, and the small business owner of Paris Mountain Eggs. As a medical student, he was inducted into the Alpha-Omega-Alpha Honor Society, the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and Sigma Xi Research Honor Society. He has also been recognized with the Alpha-Omega-Alpha preclinical award, the President’s Preclinical award, and the James B. Edwards Endowed Award for being the top student in his class. In addition to his clinical rotation responsibilities, he researches the effects of PGE2 and PPARβ/ẟ on colorectal cancer progression, which has earned him the Perry V. Halushka MUSC Research Day award and 15th Annual Department of Medicine Research Symposium award. In his spare time, he enjoys several hobbies, including leading his long-distance running club, playing guitar and piano in his band, playing disc golf and baseball, being an Old Masters art connoisseur, learning Russian as a second language, mountain biking, repairing televisions, and traveling the world. Mr. Wilson plans to complete his Doctorate of Medicine degree in May 2023 and enter into a Plastic Surgery residency.
