SHORT BIO
Kayla Matheus received her undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and Art from Yale University in 2011. Since then, she has helped open the Yale CEID (Center for Engineering, Innovation, and Design), taught Design Thinking at Northwestern, founded the behavior change startup MOTI, scouted social robotics startups for Silicon Valley VCs, and led the product department at Volta Charging. It was through her startup, MOTI, that she first discovered her passion for HRI. Now as a PhD researcher in the Yale Social Robotics Lab, she is excited to dive deep into how robots can best improve human health and happiness. Particular areas of interest include: social robots for mental health and long-term robot engagement and personalization.
