Steven Phillips is a Chief Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Research and Technology (AIST) in Tsukuba, Japan, and has been working in the field of Cognitive Science for more than 30 years. For the last 15 years, he has employ the tools of (mathematical) Category Theory towards understanding the nature and structure of cognition architecture. Category theory affords a unifying formal framework to do cognitive science. He is also co-author of the book, Categorizing Cognition: Toward Conceptual Coherence in the Foundations of Psychology.
