SHORT BIO

Omovoh Blessing Odafe is a Senior Scientific Officer in the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria. She works in the Wildlife and Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora Management Division and has been involved in the various schedules in the Division. She has co-produced several drafts and working documents relating to International Conventions, Agreements and Protocols domiciled in the Ministry. Among these is the development of proposals for the Niger Basin Climate Change Adaptation Programme. Blessing earned her Bachelor of Science (with Honors) in Zoology from Delta State University, Abraka in 2007, and a Master of Technology in Applied Hydrobiology from the Federal University of Technology, Minna during which she was a beneficiary of the United State Agency for International Development / Higher Education for Development Africa-US Partnership project, a grant administered by the University of Mississippi. She is presently completing her Ph.D. in Applied Hydrobiology at the Federal University of Technology, Minna. She has co-authored research publications with other seasoned researchers. Blessing is an alumna of the AAAS-TWAS Science Diplomacy course (2021). She is also a member of the Leading Integrated Research in Africa for Agenda 2030 (LIRA2030) Team Nigeria and South Africa. She is a woman in science, hardworking mother as well as resilient and always ready to acquire new knowledge.
