Multi-modal Federated Learning (MFL) is a distributed machine learning paradigm that enables multiple participants with multi-modal data to collaboratively train a global model for multi-modal tasks without sharing their local data.
MFL typically deploys the trained global model as an EaaS, allowing participants to obtain embeddings for downstream tasks. However, it increases the risk of unauthorized copying and leakage of the model.
Protecting the ownership of the MFL global model while maintaining model performance is challenging.
In this paper, we propose the first general model ownership protection framework for MFL, named MFL-Owner. 
MFL-Owner decouples the watermark embedding process from the model training process and addresses both ownership verification and traceability, effectively safeguarding the interests of the MFL collective.
MFL-Owner leverages the concept of orthogonal transformations by incorporating a linear transformation matrix with orthogonal constraints into the model, achieving high-quality ownership verification and traceability with minimal impact on model performance.
To enhance the practicality of the watermark and prevent conflicts among multiple clients during tracing, we propose a trigger dataset selection method based on out-of-distribution data combined with Gaussian noise perturbation.
Our experiments on multiple datasets demonstrate that MFL-Owner is effective for model ownership verification and traceability for MFL.

MFL-Owner: Ownership Protection for Multi-modal Federated Learning via Orthogonal Transform Watermark

Large Language Models (LLMs) have revolutionized open-domain dialogue agents but encounter challenges in multi-character role-playing (MCRP) scenarios. To address the issue, we present Neeko, an innovative framework designed for efficient multiple characters imitation. Neeko employs a dynamic low-rank adapter (LoRA) strategy, enabling it to adapt seamlessly to diverse characters. Our framework breaks down the role-playing process into agent pre-training, multiple characters playing, and character incremental learning, effectively handling both seen and unseen roles. This dynamic approach, coupled with distinct LoRA blocks for each character, enhances Neeko's adaptability to unique attributes, personalities, and speaking patterns. As a result, Neeko demonstrates superior performance in MCRP over most existing methods, offering more engaging and versatile user interaction experiences.

Neeko: Leveraging Dynamic LoRA for Efficient Multi-Character Role-Playing Agent

Non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) aims to decompose aggregated electrical usage signal into appliance-specific power consumption and it amounts to a classical example of blind source separation tasks. Leveraging recent progress on deep learning techniques, we design a new neural NILM model Multi-State Dual CNN (MSDC). Different from previous models, MSDC explicitly extracts information about the appliance's multiple states and state transitions, which in turn regulates the prediction of signals for appliances. More specifically, we employ a dual-CNN architecture: one CNN for outputting state distributions and the other for predicting the power of each state. A new technique is invented that utilizes conditional random fields (CRF) to capture state transitions. Experiments on two real-world datasets REDD and UK-DALE demonstrate that our model significantly outperform state-of-the-art models  while having good generalization capacity, achieving 6%-10% MAE gain and 33%-51% SAE gain to unseen appliances.

MSDC: Exploiting Multi-State Power Consumption in Non-intrusive load monitoring based on A Dual-CNN Model


Classification and clustering are prevalent to recognize the identity and the community of nodes in graphs. Several studies analyzed graph structure to build graph neural network (GNN) models for reducing the accuracy of node classification and clustering recently. The existing defense usually modified the structure of models and adopted countermeasure training to enhance the robustness of the node classification and clustering. However, these defense works are model-oriented and not robust. To alleviate the problem, this paper first proposed a robust node classification metric based on residual entropy. More concrete, the accuracy of node classification is proven robustly by maximizing the residual entropy of the nodes theoretically. Then two graph generative algorithms are proposed to resist against two kinds of GNN-based attacks, the untargeted attack and the targeted attack, respectively. Finally, experimental analysis show that the proposed algorithms outperform the existing defense works under five classic datasets.

Real-time forwarding prediction for predicting online contents' popularity is beneficial to various social applications for enhancing interactive social behaviors. Cascade graphs, formed by online contents' propagation, play a vital role in real-time forwarding prediction. Existing cascade graph modeling methods are inadequate to embed cascade graphs that have hub structures and deep cascade paths, or they fail to handle the short-term outbreak of forwarding amount. To this end, we propose a novel real-time forwarding prediction method that includes an effective approach for cascade graph embedding and a short-term variation sensitive method for time-series modeling, making the best of cascade graph features. Using two real world datasets, we demonstrate the significant superiority of the proposed method compared with the state-of-the-art. Our experiments also reveal interesting implications hidden in the performance differences between cascade graph embedding and time-series modeling.
