SHORT BIO
Modinah Abdul Raheem is a Nigerian Woman born over 50 years ago to the families of Mr. and Mrs. Bashir Akindele. She hails from Ibadan City of Oyo State, Nigeria. she attended her primary education Ebenezer Primary School, St. Teresa's Secondary School, Queen School for her 'A' Levels and University of Ibadan for her first, second and her 3rd degrees. She obtained her Ph.D. from University of Ilorin, Nigeria. she started her academic carrier as Graduate Assistant at University of Ibadan, she later moved to Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso and Later to University of Ilorin, Department of Chemistry where she rose through the ranks to the level of an Associate Professor in 2016. She teaches and researches on Physical/Environmental Chemistry till date. In 2004 she won START Scholarship Award for her Ph.D. In 2011/2012, Modinah won Slumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship Award which was tenable at University of Birmingham, School of Earth, Geography and Environmental Sciences where she studied Chemistry and Fate of Methyl Chavicol for her Postdoctoral Studies. She is a member as well as head of many Committees within her University and Community. Modinah is currently the First Female Coordinator of General Studies, History and Philosophy of Science for the University where she works. She is currently the Post Graduate Coordinator for her Department. In 2018 she led the committee that won the Seeding Laboratory Equipment for her Department through her University. Modinah is a member of many Society relating to her field, some of which include Royal Society of Chemistry, RSC United Kingdom; American Chemical Society, ACS, USA; Chemical Society of Nigeria, CSN, where she is currently their National Treasurer. She is happily married with Children.
