SHORT BIO
Ashwin completed his undergraduate study at Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, India in 2017. During his tenure as an undergrad student, he published one journal and three conference papers in various fields like Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) in solar power systems, Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) and Application of Artificial Intelligence in Power Quality Compensating systems. He is the recipient of “Outstanding young research award” from the electrical department. He also got a chance to pursue two internships during his undergrad, that also gave him motivation to pursue his research in the field of power electronics and its application to core power systems.
He has two years of professional experience, working at ABB India Ltd., in the Solar and Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (EPPE) department, as a Technical Sales Executive and Project Manager, at Bangalore, India. He also got a chance to be the project lead for a product localization project of 100kW solar string inverter (PVS-100-TL). During his professional tenure, he received the Trailblazer award for Performance Excellence and CCP champion award.
He is currently pursuing his PhD degree at Arizona State University (ASU) under the guidance of Dr. Mallik. He is also working as a Research Assistant under his supervision, focusing on applications of power electronics in renewables, datacenters and point of load applications. His interests include Power electronic converters, advanced switching and modulation techniques, renewables energy resources, power quality compensation, distributed energy resources (DERs) integration to smart grid and applications of machine learning in power systems.
