Graph neural networks (GNNs) have achieved great success in node classification tasks. However, existing GNNs naturally bias towards the majority classes with more labelled data and ignore those minority classes with relatively few labelled ones. The traditional techniques often resort over-sampling methods, but they may cause overfitting problem. More recently, some works propose to synthesize additional nodes for minority classes from the labelled nodes, however, there is no any guarantee if those generated nodes really stand for the the corresponding minority classes.  In fact, improperly synthesized nodes may result in insufficient generalization of the algorithm. To resolve the problem, in this paper we seek to automatically augment the minority classes from the massive unlabelled nodes of the graph. Specifically, we propose \textit{GraphSR}, a novel self-training strategy to augment the minority classes with significant diversity of unlabelled nodes, which is based on a Similarity-based selection module and a Reinforcement Learning(RL) selection module. The first module finds a subset of unlabelled nodes which are most similar to those labelled minority nodes, and the second one further determines the representative and reliable nodes from the subset via RL technique. 
 Furthermore, the RL-based module can adaptively determine the sampling scale according to current training data. This strategy is general and can be easily combined with different GNNs models. Our experiments demonstrate the proposed approach outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines on various class-imbalanced datasets.

GraphSR: A Data Augmentation Algorithm for Imbalanced Node Classification

Both word-level noise and sentence-level noise are challenges for Distantly Supervised Relation Extraction (DSRE). In this presentation, we introduce our novel Multi-Layer Revision Network (MLRN) which alleviates word-level noise by emphasizing inner-sentence correlations before extracting relevant information within sentences. We also devise a balanced and noise-resistant Confidence-based Multi-Instance Learning (CMIL) method which combines hard filtering and soft weighting to address sentence-level noise. Experiments show that our approach achieves significant improvements over the baselines.

Distantly Supervised Relation Extraction using Multi-Layer Revision Network and Confidence-based Multi-Instance Learning

Sequential Recommendation plays a significant role in daily recommendation systems, such as e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Taobao. However, even with the advent of large models, these platforms often face sparse issues in the historical browsing records of individual users due to new users joining or the introduction of new products. As a result, existing sequence recommendation algorithms may not perform well. To address this, sequence-based data augmentation methods have garnered attention.

Existing sequence enhancement methods typically rely on augmenting existing data, employing techniques like cropping, masking prediction, random reordering, and random replacement of the original sequence. While these methods have shown improvements, they often overlook the exploration of the deep embedding space of the sequence. To tackle these challenges, we propose a Sparse Enhanced Network (SparseEnNet), which is a robust adversarial generation method. SparseEnNet aims to fully explore the hidden space in sequence recommendation, generating more robust enhanced items. Additionally, we adopt an adversarial generation method, allowing the model to differentiate between data augmentation categories and achieve better prediction performance for the next item in the sequence. Virtual Poster Session III: Information Extraction

EMNLP 2021 is planned to be a hybrid event in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, with both on-site and fully virtual participation possible. The experience for on-site participants would closely approximate a normal pre-COVID *ACL conference, with 5-6 thematically organized parallel sessions and live Q/A and interactive discussion immediately after the talks. Presentations by virtual participants will be equitably interleaved with those of on-site participants, projected on the auditorium screens as if on-site, and also followed immediately by live Q/A and interactive discussion at a time during reasonable waking hours for the virtual presenter. For all participants, on-site and virtual, who are unable to attend a session due to either time-zone issues or because they are participating in another session live, talk recordings and slides will be available online at a minimum after the live presentation (and in many cases before as well), and questions may be submitted in advance on session-specific discussion boards and answered live in session with the usual visual aids if desired.
