SHORT BIO
Nicole Ranganath is an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the UC Davis Middle East/South Asia Studies who specializes in the history of the Punjabi diaspora. Dr. Ranganath has forged deep partnerships with the local Punjabi community in delivering the UC Davis Pioneering Punjabis Digital Archive, and in directing “Jutti Kasoori” (a California Humanities-funded documentary about the history of women in California’s Punjabi community that aired on PBS), and in a successful community fundraising campaign for the Punjabi Language and Culture Endowment. She is writing a book on the history of women’s music in the Punjabi Sikh diaspora. She also brings extensive expertise in leading complex multi-campus and international research initiatives in the UC Davis Chancellor’s office. She earned her Ph.D. in history from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a BA in anthropology from UC Berkeley.
