Text classification is a fundamental task with broad applications in natural language processing. In this paper, a Deep Attention Diffusion Graph Neural Network (DADGNN) model is proposed to learn text representations, bridging the chasm of interaction difficulties between a word and its distant neighbors. Experimental results on various standard benchmark datasets demonstrate the superior performance of the present approach.

Deep Attention Diffusion Graph Neural Networks for Text Classification

Text classification occupies an important role in natural language processing and has many applications in real life. Short text classification, as one of its subtopics, has attracted increasing interest from researchers since it is more challenging due to its semantic sparsity and insufficient labeled data. Recent studies attempt to combine graph learning and contrastive learning to alleviate the above problems in short text classification. Despite their fruitful success, there are still several inherent limitations. First, the generation of augmented views may disrupt the semantic structure within the text and introduce negative effects due to noise permutation. Second, they ignore the clustering-friendly features in unlabeled data and fail to further utilize the prior information in few valuable labeled data. To this end, we propose a novel model that utilizes improved Graph contrastIve learning for short text classiFicaTion (GIFT). Specifically, we construct a heterogeneous graph containing several component graphs by mining from an internal corpus and introducing an external knowledge graph. Then, we use singular value decomposition to generate augmented views for graph contrastive learning. Moreover, we employ constrained k-means on labeled texts to learn clustering-friendly features, which facilitate cluster-oriented contrastive learning and assist in obtaining better category boundaries. Extensive experimental results show that GIFT significantly outperforms previous state-of-the-art methods.

EMNLP 2021 is planned to be a hybrid event in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, with both on-site and fully virtual participation possible. The experience for on-site participants would closely approximate a normal pre-COVID *ACL conference, with 5-6 thematically organized parallel sessions and live Q/A and interactive discussion immediately after the talks. Presentations by virtual participants will be equitably interleaved with those of on-site participants, projected on the auditorium screens as if on-site, and also followed immediately by live Q/A and interactive discussion at a time during reasonable waking hours for the virtual presenter. For all participants, on-site and virtual, who are unable to attend a session due to either time-zone issues or because they are participating in another session live, talk recordings and slides will be available online at a minimum after the live presentation (and in many cases before as well), and questions may be submitted in advance on session-specific discussion boards and answered live in session with the usual visual aids if desired.

The purpose of the AAAI conference series is to promote research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and foster scientific exchange between researchers, practitioners, scientists, students, and engineers across the entirety of AI and its affiliated disciplines. AAAI-24 will feature technical paper presentations, special tracks, invited speakers, workshops, tutorials, poster sessions, senior member presentations, competitions, and exhibit programs, and a range of other activities to be announced.

We expect for AAAI-24 to be an in-person conference – one author of all accepted papers will be expected to present work in person unless there are exceptional circumstances that prevent this.<br><br><br><br>
