SHORT BIO
Vittoria Scorpio is a researcher as fluvial geomorphologist, at the Institute for Earth Observation of the Eurac Research in Bolzano. Her research focuses on rivers evolution, human disturbance to rivers, ongoing river dynamics and processes, geomorphological mapping, flood hazards scenarios and geomorphic response of rivers to extreme flood events. He is presently the principal investigator of the project "CoupEvent - Hillslope - Channel coupling during extreme events in South Tyrol". Her research is mainly based on field investigation and Gis analysis. She studied Earth Science at the University of Naples Federico II. In 2012, she got the Phd in Earth Science at the University of Naples Federico II. From 2012 to 2015 she worked as postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Biosciences and Territory of the University of Molise. Since 2015, she hasworked at the University of Bolzano, dealing with the projects: “Etsch-2000, Evolution of the Etsch River, historical changes in channel morphology over 2 millennia” and “Fharmor, Fish Habitat in Alpine Rivers: Integrating Monitoring, Modelling and Remote Sensing”. Since 2017, she is lecturer of “Hydromorphology” of the master course “Civil Engineering for Mitigation of Risk from Natural Hazards: Hydrogeological Risk Assessment and Mitigation” of the University of Pavia and of the bachelor course in “Geography” at the Klagenfurt University.
