SHORT BIO
Sébastien Valade is a volcanologist and research fellow working at the Institute of Geofisics - UNAM (Mexico City) since March 2020. His research interests are related to the observation, modelling, and hazard assessment of volcanic eruptive processes. After finishing his PhD in 2012 at LMV (Univ. Blaise Pascal, France), where he worked on ground-based remote sensing of pyroclastic emissions, he carried a 4-year postdoc at LGS (Univ. of Florence, Italy) where he participated in the operation of large multi sensor geophysical networks for the surveillance and study of Etna and Stromboli volcanoes. From 2017-2019 he worked jointly at the TU-Berlin and GFZ (Germany), where he developed MOUNTS, a satellite-based volcano monitoring system.
