SHORT BIO
Laura Tomassetti (PhD), TECNOLOGO III LIVELLO TD at Servizio Geologico d’Italia-ISPRA (Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la ricerca Ambientale) Via Vitaliano Brancati 48, Roma PhD in Stratigraphy and Sedimentology in 2012 at Sapienza University of Rome, Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra with a PhD Thesis “Response to eustatic and trophic variations of Oligo-Miocene carbonate platform systems of Western Mediterranean domain” (Risposta alle variazioni eustatiche e trofiche dei sistemi di piattaforma carbonatica oligo-miocenici nel Mediterraneo occidentale) Her research is mainly focuses on: • carbonate sedimentology and stratigraphy of Mediterranean Tertiary platforms and biota analysis as tool of paleoenvironmental reconstructions • 3D facies modelling for carbonate systems, facies heterogeneities and porosity modeling on carbonate systems, carbonate petroleum systems • Seagrass environments in Mediterranean Sea • Modern and fossil mixed carbonate-siliciclastic systems Actually she is employed at Servizio Geologico d’Italia-ISPRA for the CARG-project regarding the geological mapping of sedimentary successions for emerged and submerged lands, coordination of geological sheet production activities, definition of guide and standards and cartography production for the database within the CARG Project Since November 2020 she is Associate Editor of Marine and Petroleum Geology journal; since April 2018 has the habilitation for associate professorship released by the Ministero dell'Istruzione, Università e Ricerca Since 2007 she is co-tutor and co-advisor of several bachelor and master thesis and Phd thesis. She is also reviewer for PhD thesis and member of commission for PhD thesis defense. She is also reviewer for several international peer-reviewed journals Since 2008 up to now, she joined to several scientific projects about the Eocene-Miocene carbonate platform systems through 3D modelling, their liaison with volcanic activity on the marine carbonate productions, Cenozoic carbon cycle pertubations, Carbonate factory changes from green-house to ice-house world; Modern and fossil seagrass environment and its skeletal associations.
