SHORT BIO
Dr. Robert Daniel Levitan is a Psychiatrist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and a Professor of Psychiatry and of Physiology at the University of Toronto. He holds the Cameron Parker Holcombe Wilson Chair in Depression studies at CAMH and University of Toronto. Dr. Levitan is a Senior member of the Institute of Medical Science at University of Toronto and the Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute at CAMH. Dr. Levitan’s primary research interest is the “atypical spectrum” of mood disorders which encompass both depression and overeating/obesity, including Seasonal Affective Disorder. Dr. Levitan combines clinical research work in adults with early developmental research to help unravel the early origins and inter-generational transmission of atypical depressive subtypes. In pursuing these goals, Dr. Levitan has developed several ongoing collaborations across the University of Toronto including the Department of Physiology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, The Lunenfeld Institute and the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
