I am an assistant professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of British Columbia and an investigator at the British Columbia Children’s Hospital Research Institute. I am also a faculty member in the Bioinformatics and Genome Science and Technology graduate programs at UBC. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the lab of Rafael Irizarry in the Department of Data Sciences at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. I earned my PhD in the Department of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin Madison under the direction of Christina Kendziorski. My research focuses on developing statistical methodology and computational tools for the analysis of high-dimensional genomics data. Most of my work revolves around experiments that use next-generation sequencing technologies to characterize the genomic basis of complex traits. I focus on problems of analyzing the mutation spectrum of cancer genomes, studying the gene expression of single cells, and characterizing changes in genome-wide methylation patterns. Currently, my research aims to develop and apply analysis tools to understand how epigenetic modifications influence transcriptional regulation. I am always looking to collaborate on new and interesting problems in these and other areas!
