SHORT BIO
Kristiina Jokinen is Senior Researcher at AI Research Center in AIST Tokyo Waterfront. Prior to moving to Japan, she was Adjunct Professor and Project Director at University of Helsinki, Finland, and Visiting Professor at University of Tartu. She is Life Member of Clare Hall University of Cambridge. Her research concerns AI-based human-robot interaction, spoken dialogue systems, and multimodal communication (eye-gaze,speech, gestures) in the Constructive Dialogue Model framework. She has published widely on the topics including three books. Together with G.Wilcock she developed the WikiTalk open-domain dialogue application for social robots, which one Special Recognition for Best Robot Design (Software Cateogry) at the International Conference of Social Robotics 2017. She has had a leading role in multiple national and international cooperation projects. She is on the international Advisory Board for the H2020 project EMPATHIC and Steering Committee Member for the IWSDS Dialogue Workshop series. She served as General Chair for SIGDial 2017 and ICMI 2013, Area Chair for Interspeech 2017 and COLING 2014, and organised the northernmost dialogue conference IWSDS 2016 in Lapland and edited the Springer book "Dialogues with Social Robots" (LNEE 427).
