SHORT BIO

Dr. Benjamin Qi Yu Chan is a Scientist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), ASTAR, Singapore. He is a recipient of the 2020 ASTAR Career Development Award (CDA) for the development of 4D printing of smart electrically-conductive composites awarded by ASTAR. Benjamin obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National University of Singapore, funded by the ASTAR Graduate Scholarship. He was previously a visiting doctoral researcher at the Melville Laboratory for Polymer Synthesis in the Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge. Benjamin’s research areas/interests include stimuli-responsive soft materials such as shape memory polymeric materials and thermoresponsive hydrogels, supramolecular host-guest systems, and 3D printing of soft materials.
