I'm a researcher in the Department of Human Behavior, Ecology, and Culture at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany. There, I'm coleader of the Culture, Environment, and Health Research Group. I study the dynamics of culture and health at ethnic boundaries using mathematical models and extensive fieldwork among communities of indigenous Matsigenka and Mestizos in Amazonian Peru.
