These organizations operate behind the scenes, with low budgets and limited staffing – no salespeople, marketing teams, travel budgets, or in-house technology support. They collaborate with one another and with bigger infrastructure bodies like Crossref and ORCID, creating the foundations on which much scholarly infrastructure relies.
