### Welcome to the Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia Systems and Web
Promoted annually by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), the Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia Systems and Web (WebMedia) is the main event on the subject in Brazil and an excellent opportunity for scientific and technical exchanges between students, researchers and professionals in the areas of Multimedia, Hypermedia and Web. This year, we will be celebrating the 27th edition of WebMedia, to be held from **November 5th to 12th, 2021**, organized by the Federal University of Minas Gerais and Federal University of São João Del Rei. For the second time in its history, the event will be held online, with interaction between the participants being done through tools and web platforms.

Tourism is one of the most competitive, lucrative, and socially im-portant economic segments in the world. Therefore, understandingthe behavior of tourists is strategic for improving services andresults. Many studies in the literature explore this issue using tra-ditional data, such as surveys. These approaches provide reliable, precise information, but it is hard to obtain on a large scale, makingstudying worldwide patterns difficult. Location-Based Social Net-works (LBSNs) could minimize these problems due to the ease ofacquiring large amounts of detailed behavioral data. Nevertheless, before using such data, it is imperative to determine whether theinformation reveals behaviors comparable to traditional data - ourground truth. Thus, this work investigates whether the interna-tional flow of tourists measured with LBSN data is similar to thebehavior estimated by the World Tourism Organization with tradi-tional data sources. Our results suggest that LBSNs data representthe studied behavior well, indicating that they could be used inresearch regarding tourism mobility at different levels.

A considerable part of the culture and behavior of societies arederived from the habits and preferences built up over time. One rep-resentative characteristic that a group can present is the preferencefor certain food groups, thus, building the gastronomic identity ofeach region around the world. With the increasingly broad con-nections established by social networks, it is now more feasibleto analyze such preferences on a large scale. This study examinesrecipes from Allrecipes.com network in three continents: Amer-ica, Europe, and Asia. Based on the evaluations made by the users,a score was developed, allowing the separation of the recipes intwo broad groups: well evaluated and poorly evaluated. All theingredients of these recipes were extracted and used to assemble anetwork whose links were made via pointwise mutual information. This measure of association, used in pairs of ingredients, allowedus to find the main ingredients common to the countries. Our studymay help to better understand the success, or otherwise, of a recipe,in a specific locality, based on its main ingredients. Thus, one ofthe main utilities envisioned for this work is to establish betterrecommendations for recipes.

Context-aware recommendation systems use contextual data to rec-ommend a fully personalized suggestion to their users, for instance, using the massive workloads produced by the usage of mobile apps.In this paper, we collected and analyzed a dataset from social me-dia related to the Belo Horizonte’s 2020 Carnival to understandhow this event attracts tourists (or Belo Horizonte’s non-resident),analyzing their interactions with a large recommendation system. We built a point-of-view of an event mixing its features in twosocial networks: Twitter and Google Review. Our results show thatcombining traits lead to better information about the given contextusing social networks. It helps both the tourists choosing where totravel and the local establishments to provide better services.

Analyzing A Touristic Event Popularity Using Social Networks

Candidates and job vacancies may remain for long periods withoutreal opportunities in Recommendation Systems (RSs) for onlinerecruitment. We refer to these scenarios as theMatching ScarcityProblem(MaSP). We formalize the MaSP and propose a strategy toidentify candidates and vacancies suffering from it. We also proposefive heuristics, which suggest changes in CVs and jobs descriptions,to mitigate the MaSP. The best heuristic was able to reduce up to50% the number of CVs and jobs suffering from MaSP.
