Professor Johnson Winters is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Texas at Arlington.  Professor Johnson-Winters' research interests span from molecular biology techniques, such as polymerase chain reaction (pcr) and site-directed mutagenesis, to protein expression and purification.  Group interests include studies of F420 co-factor dependent enzymes, using kinetic isotope effects methods, as well as steady-state and pre-steady state kinetic methoods.  Prior to joining the University of Texas at Arlington, Professor Johnson-Winters was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Arizona at Tucson.  Professor Johnson-Winters received her bachelor's degree, with a double major in biology and chemistry, from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and earned her PhD from the University of Wisconsin.  Professor Johnson Winters is a member of the Society of STEM Women of Color, the American Chemical Society and the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.  Dr. Johnson-Winters has been awarded Advisor of the Year, Professor of the Year and the College of Science FIG Award.  Professor Johnson-Winters has been featured or quoted in Chemical and Engineering News and the American Society of Biochemistry and Microbiology Today, among others.
